"Ask not what your neighborhood can do for you; ask what you can do for your neighborhood" ... When the Big One -- say, a magnitude 9.0 earthquake -- rattles Portland and topples bridges, where would you go and whom would you help? What resources -- food, water, shelter -- would be available if your neighborhood becomes an island? Terra Firma Planning is hosting two open houses to elicit public feedback on draft community emergency-preparedness recommendations for the Northeast Coalition of Neighborhoods. Whether you live, work or play in North Portland, we encourage you to stop by one of the events and to think about what you can do for your neighborhood. Our first open house will be on Friday, May 4, from 4-7 p.m., at the Mississippi Marketplace Food Pod, 4233 N. Mississippi Ave. The second open house will be on Tuesday, May 8, from 4-7 p.m., at the Oregon Red Cross Trail Chapter headquarters, 3131 N. Vancouver Ave. We hope to see you there! |
